Happy New Year Everyone

We said goodbye to 2024, and the Mistress cannot remember a thing. Her darling had to look after her for the first time in 70 years. Now, some of her friends and the kids would be shocked to learn this. That cheeky son said, "It's about time." Today has been a tranquil day around here, and nobody has moved very far.

This resident cat has a great life with lots of pampering. I get very jealous when I see her coat being brushed. She sits on the arm of the chair and laps up all the attention.

Look at those eyes. She is totally relaxed and almost in a hypnotic state. The fur gets piled up in the brush, and the only problem is a massive knot on one side that the Mistress isn't allowed to go near. It appears the owner can't either.  She looks so pleased about this matter, too.

We have traveled to Tokomairaro Mouth (Toko for short), 15 km east of Milton. His Lordship has some relatives with a family bach, and he has not seen them for 40-plus years. I was amazed he remembered their place on arrival because he sometimes forgot many things. Their dog came to greet the humans without me, and I was most put out. Eventually, I was allowed out of the car to meet these people and the dog. She didn't notice me, and I was infuriated. I was placed on the table, and they were told our story. Friendly people, too, and they liked The Mistress.

The snob

She was far more interested in the Mistress and her pats.

Today, His Lordship had his darling up and organized, and we were all off to Roxburgh. Yippee, a road trip where I am strapped into my seat belt and admire the sky changing to blue as we get through the hills. I can sometimes see trees from my very low position on a cushion. I really want them to do something about my seating arrangement. Let's hope she reads this, as this is a huge hint.

They wanted the stone fruits, which are in abundance at the moment. We sat on the bank right beside the hydro dam for lunch. Jeepers, there was so much water spilling out, and it flowed very fast down the Clutha River.

Beside the Clutha River

It was a beautiful day for us—not too hot and pleasant. The humans had a picnic sorted, and I checked out the fruit beside my cushion.

Some of the fruits were like cricket balls. Maybe some high jinks tonight! Shh, don't tell her.
My job while traveling was to keep an eye on them, and just as well. The Mistress decided Alexander wasn't far away, so let's go. We were off like a rocket—not His Lordship's choice, but anything for peace. A happy wife means a happy life.
We were flying, she reckons. This new car of ours has plenty of grunt but no stripes. It grew wings this afternoon and flew to Alexander. He likes to put his foot down hard, and I had to catch the Apricots beside me. This road was less windy but had lots of hills and straight roads. Watching an apricot airborne was priceless, and I wish I had the camera. It was a nice drive, and this road had loads of flat rocks on the hills.
They stopped at the Roxburgh township on their way back to stretch their legs, and we came across these intriguing metal statues. That man had a large pick and dish to put his Gold into, and the wife and girl were into the cherries.

We found these statues in Roxburgh.

The Mistress says a great day out, and they are impressed with how the Hybrid performs.
Well, I shall dream about a flying  Apricot!
