6/9/25 It has been a while. The Mistress has been struggling the past couple of weeks and is in no mood to do very much around here. The stress of this caravan debacle has taken its toll. They announce they are now going to court. Whatever this means for a mere Gnome. So, this is the update. They told me it could take several weeks to get into the system, and then I'll have to wait for a hearing date.  What does this all mean for a Gnome? It appears humans and Gnomes wait. For how long? For as long as it takes, they say. We are very used to having patients around here, so this is nothing new. When this date is given, we trot along and listen to the judge. I found it complicated to get an explanation of what a judge does, so I requested to attend this party. The humans assure me this will definitely not be a party. A Gnome will be out of place in that environment, therefore not welcome. The humans have warned me that stress will be high at this time, and I am to be ...

24/8/25 The humans are patiently waiting for the news on this caravan drama. They reckon that fella has no way out now, as the wof has been revoked yet again. An excellent report from NZTA went to the lawyer this week, and that dude has until Tuesday to pay up. He is even trying to get them to pay for living it all this time. This would never have happened if he had paid up in December last year.  25/8/25 The Mistress wants to get settled and is champing at the bit to get all her belongings around her. They are both not getting much sleep these days while they wait for Tuesday. They won't share their plans with me, unfortunately. The joys of just being a mere Gnome. Another Gnome has appeared here, too. He is just a small chap, keeping us company at the window. I've also heard a discussion about a couple of Gnomes she has seen somewhere that are second-hand. Now she is patiently waiting for payday. These humans have learned a lot about being patient this past year. A couple ...

13/8/25 Brrr, it's a bit chilly here, and these humans reckon spring is coming. I shall believe it when I see it. It is nice and sunny where I am perched. Outside is a very different story. His Lordship was outside talking to a neighbour, with no jumper on, and hugged the heater when he came back in.  I am still trying to figure out how this young baby ended up here, and who the parents are. My good friend Trixie assures me she is not the mother. So, I need to ponder this a little longer. The Mistress fancied a Date and an orange scone the other day and set out to make a batch in the air fryer. From my perch, it looked like they both enjoyed them. She misses her baking days and working in cafes many years ago. Then today, she had friends coming for morning tea, so a batch of cheese scones was quickly whipped up. Even His Lordship did a productivity test before he was taken to golf for the day. He offended her by asking for raspberry jam on his. She was far from amused. ...

7/8/25 The humans eventually arrived home. I spotted them pulling up on Sunday. I had forgotten they had swapped their car for a big blue one ,  which belonged to his brother. Not a word was spoken about  forgetting to take me with them. This did not put me in a reasonable frame of mind, either, I might add. They appeared busy unpacking for the rest of the day, and the brother and his wife came to swap cars back and took the caravan back to their place. A mere Gnome just has to suck it up and move on, she has taught me. Just as well she doesn't give me jobs to do around here, because I could well strike about my conditions.  She must have read my mind, as she announced where the door is. Gee, she is so mean to me. I may need a holiday on my own somewhere. This could be tricky as my little legs would struggle to hitchhike. Where would I go?  No income to support me, doesn't make me a happy Chappie. Her words, "Suck it up," haunt me daily.  A baby Gnome has appear...
31/7/25 I am home alone, and so sad that she left me here. The Mistress informed me that I was going down to Waimate with them, and obviously, she had forgotten. I don't feel important anymore. Other things occupy her mind these days. I doubt that I have ever felt so sad. Looking out the window, I see the caravan is gone, and I have missed another great experience for a mere Gnome. I had been looking forward to that time away and learning about a family bereavement. I will get over it, eventually.  These humans would have seen their friends down there, and I was looking forward to seeing them too. Oops, she could have left me in one place and forgotten about me, and this would have been a disaster; that woman would have put me in a box again and sent me on my way.  The Mistress has a lot going on with this caravan issue, and her mind isn't always functioning correctly. She has taught me all about life's stresses and how they affect the brain. I am slowly catching on, bu...

20/7/25 The ground around here remains muddy. Our feet can get stuck very easily, making it difficult to clean them when we come back inside. The Mistress would be far from happy to see muddy footprints inside. It would be, please explain, and in a growly voice too! The humans are very stressed by this caravan business. An investigation is underway behind the scenes with specific government departments, which will likely prolong the duration of this business. But surely it has gone on for long enough. Evidently not.  So, we wait and are unable to move on. It is so hard for a mere Gnome to understand this legal business. She reckons this will end up in court. I suggested that if he has broken the law, then this is final. Evidently not. I have a lot to learn. Golfed yesterday, and then another caravan appeared around here. The twin and his wife offloaded it here. What, 2 Caravans. I can see it when I look out the window. The Mistress went out this afternoon to goodness knows whe...

13/7/25 So far, no more Cheerios have been found in the frozen vegetables. This pleases the humans immensely. They do wonder if anyone else has seen any. The factory advises that no meat is allowed to enter the premises.  The Mistress feels someone may have sabotaged the production from their lunch boxes as a prank. We may never know. Stress levels are rising around here, and everyone's blood pressure is up. The testing kit is not in a hurry to be put back into the cupboard. The Caravan fellow has to pay up by Tuesday. This sounds very serious. Two severe failed warrants of fitness are now sure to catch the judge's attention, if this goes to court. I ask where we will live, because we will end up homeless. I have nothing to worry about, they assure me. Plans are in place. Oh, I wish they would discuss this with me. As usual, because I don't contribute to the household funds, I have no say at all. A tough life for a mere Gnome. I'm just praying very loudly that I don...
