Our peace was disturbed again today when His Lordship strutted out here. Doesn't he know that this is Gnome time, and we do not get disturbed. They say there are two choices around here. Like it or lump it. Oh, it is a tough life being a mere Gnome.
Today, they took off very early, and of course, we were kept from being told the expected time of arrival home. We did hear a discussion that they would get fish and chips for dinner, as the Mistress knew she would be tired. We took this to mean home late afternoon. So, we headed out of here when the coast was clear of humans to inspect where some chaps were playing with their diggers and wheelbarrows spreading trailer loads of dirt.
We noted it was rubbish-free, which pleased us to no end. However, we have yet to determine why they put the dirt loads behind a house, and next door a caravan, It could be a garden or turn the rough ground into a lawn. Watch this space, I say. We will go out again tonight to inspect the area and see if we can figure out what they are doing.
They have a contractor to cut the vast hedge, and he has to move his machinery down the backs of the caravans and mini-houses. Upon investigating, I worked out the ground levels were up the creek of unevenness, and they just had to level it out.
The humans arrived home with their pack of fish and chips and reached for the bubbly. It had been a tough day, it appears. We're not sure why, and the Mistress must not have any more stress because we do not want to see her unwell again. Hmm, not much a mere Gnome can do about this.
My Mistress was grumpy last night and would not allow me here. She does this at times. Maybe she forgot to take her happy pills!
Today, a man stood outside asking to speak to the Mistress. She allowed him in, and he reported enjoying relaxing with my book. Now he is the owner here and a hard case. He has enjoyed the laughs we have created for everyone to read. So now I feel proud that my stories can relax someone. We do not want him going off to the hospital like the Mistress while we shifted.
Now I wonder what else this fella does around this place. Watch this space, as I am sure to see. A mere Gnome does not miss a thing, and my mates outside have a unique whistle that only Gnomes can hear. It's to tell me something is going on outside for me to see.
Arh, it is golf day, and His Lordship got himself ready and took off.
The Mistress sat me down today to discuss our future. Our dream of caravaning around NZ has come to a halt. It is not legal to tow this great home on wheels. Yesterday, they had meetings in Christchurch, and some fella was not happy to hear what these humans told him. I wish I was there because His Lordship said he spat the dummy and threw his toys out of the cot. So, what do these words mean? I am to look this up in my collection of books. It appears she is not in the mood to discuss these terms. She says this is far too complicated for a Gnome and just something humans have to deal with. So, this is me told.
She informed me that they have discussed with the owner of this place that they would like to live here if he agrees. I agree because it is so quiet and peaceful for humans and Gnomes. It might even mean some of my mates can come out of storage and live here, too.
But we all really wanted to travel, have adventures, and write about them. Oh, well, life's challenges will sort themselves out eventually, I suppose. I shall meditate on this and suggest that the Mistress do the same.
