The humans have played croquet here this week and even remembered to take me—a bonus, I might add. Amazing, really, as I was expecting to be stuck here again. They met some amiable people, too. A hard case bunch, they reckon. The only snag was the twigs and small branches that fell from the trees, and they were all around the place. It is a hassle for these people; some are not young and could topple over before playing. His Lordship assisted them, but the Mistress sat with me and rested her back as it was a morning session.

His Lordship beat The Mistress in a singles game. He has become quite a pro at this game, and the Mistress is annoyed. However, in the second game, they swapped partners, and the poor Mistress lost that one too. I felt sorry for her as she sometimes played some spectacular shots in both games.

There are beautiful gardens here. They are great for a Gnome, and I was chuffed to get amongst the flowers when nobody was looking. I was quick, too, as I do not want humans to know what a gnome does. This is Gnome business only. Watching humans hit a ball with their mallets was an education for me. Some completely missed or hit beyond the hoops. His Lordship hit from one hoop to the other and sat in its door, blocking the other human. I was delighted to see this significant event of the day, and I am sure he hadn't expected this to happen.

Then there is the tussle at the hoop: Who gets into the goal when another ball comes along and clears the place of balls, making it harder to get to the hoop? I noticed that with some players, it can take a while to get back into prime position, and then another ball clears everything out again.

The Mistress explained that this is part of the challenge. People play this sport for the challenge and tactics to win a hoop or two. They even wear pegs of different colors so they remember how many hoops they scoured. The oldies may have issues remembering to keep count. Please don't tell anyone, but most have gray hair, and these are the ones with memory problems.

So today is golf day, and the Mistress is enjoying the peace and quiet and playing some excellent music. I find myself tapping to the beat when she is not looking. She thinks I am reading my book!

In fact, she thinks this is all I do in a day or night. I do wander around outside at times when they go out. There are lovely gardens around here, too. Some have ornaments and things that blow in the wind; I do not mean washing either. So far, no Gnomes, and I wish to make a complaint. These places would suit them too. I will try to change this, but this could be challenging for a mere Gnome.

I can bribe Moonshine to go to greener pastures. There are some vast gardens, and he could take a walk and forget to return. We get sick of his jokes; that is all he has to discuss. He can talk to the plants and bugs that live there and look after the garden maintenance. Some humans take care of it, and it is good to see they recycle around here and compost, too. Gnomes like to see this happening to our planet. We just wish a few more humans could learn from this. I hope they recycle down at the croquet club!

Look at the size of this place.
He has plenty of room to run around and have a merry old time.
