The Grandson arrived with his mother a few days ago. Crickey he is very inquisitive and asks a lot of questions. He mostly enjoys his technology, as he finds other stuff boring.
I jumped into his bed last night while he cleaned his teeth. It didn't last long when he returned. I got the heave-ho. He declined me sleeping in his bed for some reason and would not say why.
I have my prime position up at the window and keep an eye on him. The Mistress makes him ride his bike when he has been using technology for too long. He usually protests, but I can see she ignores him, as there is always a reason why he doesn't want to. The excuses fly out of his mouth rapidly, and the old girl can't always keep up with him. As for Grandad, well, he is a man of very few words.
Going to the local Aqua Land at the swimming pool was an excellent time for this lad. He hadn't been on such a thing before. Luckily, they went early; the next group was huge, and the kids were everywhere. It is all very safety-conscious, and he was fitted with a life jacket, and the Mistress was most impressed. The rules were given, and he was off.
Finding a couple of new friends meant it was even more fun. Then, off to the other pool, called "the lazy river." Going round and round made this hard against the current, and getting a couple of cuts on his foot, presumably caused by gripping himself to the bottom and staying on his feet. Lifeguards were everywhere, and lots of fun for everyone.
Playing Croquet was a hit; even the neighbors were impressed. His Lordship won 2-1, and the Mistress scored the other game. The terrain was a bit lumpy, causing a few issues.
The cousins were coming over the next day, and making muffins and fudge cake was another hit. He likes baking more than cooking, and I can see firsthand how he works. He follows her instructions carefully. First, wash your hands, she announces, and then you can bash the biscuits into crumbs and chunks for texture. The Mistress is used to making significant quantities and was using her enormous bowl, but it was packed and in storage. Two mixtures were made, and the serious concentration on this chap's face was an accurate picture from my direction.

Cooking tonight's dinner was another hit. No vegetables, yeah, he is delighted about this. The chips were cooking while he tendered to turn the sausages, which was a mission when they rolled back to their positions. The spaghetti needed a stir. This was an easy task. Even better, when it came to eating his meal, this went down very well, followed by ice cream for dessert.
They went to the movies this afternoon, so I had some peace and quiet as nobody was home. I tried to get onto his Technology, but this was useless. Oh, it's tough being a mere Gnome.
