Life here on the ranch is an enjoyable experience. Those Roosters, cock a doodle doo before the sun gets up until the sun goes down, and disturbing the peace. It just never ends, but I am informed this is farm life, and if I don't like it, I am to start walking back to the caravan. What a jolly cheek. The joys of being a mere Gnome.
The humans took off today to play croquet and left me in charge here. They didn't even consider taking me. It would have been more polite to ask. Nope, not a sound. So off I went outside and explored these horses. Going under the gate was the plan, as I could not get over the gate. Easy peasy, for me!
They took one look at me and kept on eating the grass and some hay that His Lordship fed to them. I forgot to take carrots with me, but it did not matter. All these creatures do is eat and eat. What a boring pastime. Some of the grass was quite long, and I could hide from them and just observe their habit. In fact, I lay down and nodded off in the lovely sunshine. The humans told me it was the winter season; that's so funny. We've had sunshine over the past few days here on the ranch.
Going outside for a walk with the Mistress is always interesting. We found a birdhouse in the garden, and there was no sign of any birds landing on the shelf. I have watched for days now, and I reckon they have flown into town. His Lordship loads the wheelbarrow daily to stoke up the fire that burns 24/7. We are all enjoying the warmth and coziness. I found sitting on the wood rather interesting. Each piece has its own unique shape and size.Finding a spring flower or two in the garden was a bonus. But hang on, it's winter, not spring. Ah, well, does it really matter? The Mistress likes flowers all year round.
The sunrises and sunsets out here on the ranch are mighty fascinating. Sometimes the Mistress misses the morning sun. I wonder why.....!! His Lordship pulls the curtains, and the glorious sun is well and truly shining. Very dazzling on the eyes.
You should have heard her in the middle of the night. She went on and on with a nightmare. I heard him try to wake her, but she went on and on for about an hour, he says. There are no Neighbours for several kilometers, and just as well. His Lordship says she even swore several times as well. She didn't appear to make much sense, but does she ever!
