29/4/25 There is excitement in the air here. Progress has been made on the caravan debacle. The Mistress was even dreaming about the outcome last night. She reckons it pays to go to the Disputes Tribunal. Watch this space; this could happen very soon, within two weeks, as he has a date to pay up. But this could mean we could be homeless. This poses a problem: where will we live? I ask her. The Mistress assures me all is well. They have plans that I am not privy to. But I live here and would like to know these things because we will soon be house sitting in Doyleston. His Lordship's brother is going to Italy and needs someone to look after the chooks, cat, and some horses for a whole month. At least this is somewhere to live, but what about if this caravan is gone before then? She continued that all was in hand and that I was not to worry.  The phone keeps ringing or pinging these days as she is organizing an event and has been in touch with many people. I...

23/4/25 The Mistress has been very busy lately on this computer, and I don't stand a chance of getting on here. She often goes out, leaving me and His Lordship to keep this place warm and make her cups of tea when she arrives home at her leisure, as no time is given as to when to expect her home. When she does appear, her phone either pings or rings. Whatever she is up to must be very important, and I am not privy to this information. When I complained that I wanted to be on here, do I need to book a time slot? The response was not at all funny. I was politely told that when I start to pay board, and contribute to the household income, I could book a time slot. Gee whizz, it is a tough life here being a mere Gnome amongst these 2 weird humans. I will happily give them away sometimes if anyone needs them! The Grandson has gone back to his family in Christchurch. It is quiet here now because there are no arguments. He is an intelligent young fellow who seems beyond his ye...

15/4/25 The Grandson arrived with his mother a few days ago. Crickey he is very inquisitive and asks a lot of questions. He mostly enjoys his technology, as he finds other stuff boring.  I jumped into his bed last night while he cleaned his teeth. It didn't last long when he returned. I got the heave-ho. He declined me sleeping in his bed for some reason and would not say why.  I have my prime position up at the window and keep an eye on him. The Mistress makes him ride his bike when he has been using technology for too long. He usually protests, but I can see she ignores him, as there is always a reason why he doesn't want to. The excuses fly out of his mouth rapidly, and the old girl can't always keep up with him. As for Grandad, well, he is a man of very few words.  Going to the local Aqua Land at the swimming pool was an excellent time for this lad. He hadn't been on such a thing before. Luckily, they went early; the next group was huge, and the kids were ...

9 /4/25 It is hard to keep up with the Mistress these days. She is into all sorts of things. She has spread the word about us and what we get up to on other sites worldwide. So now, what? Her phone keeps pinging and barely stops. Some have even enquired about our book and where they can buy it—Amazon, of course! She is a character, and with the ideas she comes up with, His Lordship just shakes his head and says, "What next." Her brain never stops.  Becoming a walking encyclopedia, oh my goodness. She volunteers at the Citizens Advice Bureau, and I may learn some knowledge that will help me understand the humans I live with. I want her to teach me how to access the information. It appears it's all confidential, and passwords are private.    I shall aim to look over her shoulder but fear she will pounce on me. She is like that, so it's a hard life for a mere Gnome around here. Being reminded that I do not bring in an income means I have little or no say.  Plans ...

2/4 /25 A Gnome's job is never done. We are so worried about a chap's sunflowers. They urgently need water. Each plant has about 6-8 flowers, and they make a standout show around here. The neighbors frequently stop to admire them and chat with the owner when he is around because he works during the day. My humans have a full view from here. I would like to get his hose and do this for him, but others would notice a chap like me. Let's hope he does this today. Otherwise, I may have to do it for him while he sleeps. We don't like gardens getting neglected.  Yesterday, His Lordship was washing the car. He takes great pride in his work and doesn't miss a patch. He is also known for standing back and admiring it. There is not much I don't see around here. The Mistress thinks I should mind my own business at times. I ask why, and she never answers me. I even hear her mad at His Lordship for not answering her, so I now know what this feels like.  Oh, what fun we...
