30/6/25 The caravan is back, thank goodness. It was so cold out there in the boudoir. We thought we were out there for the winter. Friday, His Lordship opened the doors and announced that the caravan had returned. The Mistress was busy at her volunteer job, and this poor man had to endure significant rain and very slippery grass between here and the caravan, carrying these boxes over. She eventually appeared and started to empty them. I had to find out why the empty ones came back. It was chaos yet again. It appears they were not to get wet, as they may use them again. My mates were very pleased to be inside and out of the rain. His Lordship looked like a drowned rat. So, they worked their way through all of them over the weekend. I'm back inside again, and it's much warmer, thank goodness. I observed from my place at the window, where I have a great view of everything. I can assure you that I don't miss anything. Some cupboards were rearranged as she wasn't happy wit...

26/6/25 It's kayos here, and the Mistress is in a spin. These humans are packing everything up. I am shoved out to the boudoir and advised to stay out and keep guard on their absence. Boxes are piled high all around me, and there is no room to move. All the inside Gnomes are stacked on the shelves or boxes. Asking where they were going to sleep was met with silence. The Mistress is stressed and doesn't want to answer my questions. A gnome's world is a challenge at times, but I refuse to stress over this. I need to show her how to take things in her stride and not sweat the small stuff. Gnomes just get on with their day. The caravan was picked up and taken to Christchurch to sort out the legalities yesterday. They even closed the curtains in the boudoir, and it is dark in here. I opened a box near me, and bingo, the solar light was going on one of the new chaps. Now we could see what each other was up to. I hope this light lasts, as the charge will eventually disappear. We c...

20 /6/25 It can be Piccadilly Station here on some days, and it can be a welcome sight once these humans disappear. I have been relishing time by myself. We have had some very sunny days here after wicked frosts. His Lordship enjoys stoking the fire during the night, because this cat plonks down in front of it when he is cold. He is not silly and sure knows where to find the sun, too. I caught him sitting at the table when they were out. The sunniest position, too. He would be in deep trouble if the humans caught him at this caper.  While I am on the topic of the Cat, he also knows where to find cuddles when he desires. You will never see His Lordship cuddling him, as this would interrupt a TV program or a game on his phone. He is way too busy for this malarky. He sees this as a complete waste of time, it appears. The Mistress says if it were a dog, then it would have loads of time.  So watching these two have these cuddles. She talks to him as if he completely understa...

10/6/25 The resident cat here gets far more attention than me and so I am considering growing some fur. The first problem is, how can I do this? The Mistress says, "Google it". This is all very well, for some. It said to try cloning. This would involve sitting side by side for an extended period of time. The problem is that this cat is forever coming and going through the door and doesn't stay long enough. When he is inside, he prefers sitting in front of the fire, and His Lordship builds massive fires, and the rest of us cook. The whole house is very cozy. This cat walks all over her and dribbles and purrs so loudly, she cannot hear the TV. Then he decides to knead the bread on her chest. Whatever next. He is also known to walk all over them in bed, purring very loudly. Sometimes he stays and sleeps. Otherwise, he is by the fire. Much better than the hay barn, these cold days and nights.  What does the cat think about this cloning business? I can see that he and I are ...

16/5/25 Surprisingly, it's a day at home for these humans today, and the weather outside is frightful.   Winter has struck with vengeance. The fire is stoked, and it's a day for little jobs. The Mistress is struggling with vacuuming and regularly sits down, leaving it to her better half.  At some ugly time this morning, all hell broke loose as the smoke alarm went off. His Lordship stokes the fire in the middle of the night, and he reckoned a puff of smoke must have escaped. The Mistress was in a deep sleep and didn't know where to put herself. Her darling said he would sort it and to go back to sleep. It was undoubtedly a loud noise, and this disturbed my rest too. Sometimes, while they cook dinner, it goes off if they forget to shut the door. All I could do once things settled was to rock in my chair and finish reading a fascinating book. I brought a stash with me, thank goodness. My bones tell me we will have this nasty weather for a few days. His Lord...

2/6/25 Life here on the ranch is an enjoyable experience. Those Roosters, cock a doodle doo before the sun gets up until the sun goes down, and disturbing the peace.  It just never ends, but I am informed this is farm life, and if I don't like it, I am to start walking back to the caravan. What a jolly cheek. The joys of being a mere Gnome.  The humans took off today to play croquet and left me in charge here. They didn't even consider taking me. It would have been more polite to ask. Nope, not a sound. So off I went outside and explored these horses. Going under the gate was the plan, as I could not get over the gate. Easy peasy, for me!  They took one look at me and kept on eating the grass and some hay that His Lordship fed to them. I forgot to take carrots with me, but it did not matter. All these creatures do is eat and eat. What a boring pastime. Some of the grass was quite long, and I could hide from them and just observe their habit. In fact, I lay down and...
