31/10/24 It's nearly Friday, and Trixie and I are excited about our move   South. I hope The Mistress has the cushion ready in the car for us to sit on, like when she took me to the North Island. There won't be a front-seat view because His Lordship lives with us full-time. Oh well, I must be grateful she announces. Yes, I am, but surely she can see that I won't be able to see very well from the back seat. She says there are 2 more seats behind the seat. We will be put there if we moan. Two more seats, what is this a bus? The humans do a lot of coming and going, and His Lordship's vehicle has gone and is to be sold. So, we are now a one-car family. Oh, I cannot wait to get moving.  The Mistress says there will be a day trip back next week, and when the curtains are ready, we will be back with the caravan for them to be fitted and will stay a night or two. She is chuffed today because the wedding photos arrived. The technology is driving her nuts. There are some good one...

28/10/24 Last night, the humans ventured out to goodness knows where. At long last, the rain had stopped, as they had hoped for a while. The ground was happy to receive nourishment, which would make the farmers happy. It made the humans glad to have a lazy day. The mistress forgot to wake up today, and her phone rang, and luckily for her, the secretary answered it.  Now she was concerned about this home on wheels and its rust problems despite it being brand new.  A young chap came out to sort all the issues, and today, His Lordship found another. It just never ends, she says. He was here a long time, too, but still missed this one. Of course, it was a man's look, and what else does one expect. The Mistress cannot bend and crouch in all the positions as her body will not cooperate. The expressions here today when she emptied the stick vacuum cleaner made for great entertainment. Our perching place is quite handy as there is little that we miss. Luckily, she didn't h...

25/10/24 The humans are melting today and spilling everywhere, making this caravan untidy . They keep saying bad weather is coming, but they are wrong, as I can feel the fine weather in my bones. The onset of night seems to stir a restlessness in the humans. They toss and turn, their covers in disarray, creating a scene of disorder. Yet, this peculiar behavior only fuels my curiosity, prompting me to explore other aspects of this world. Amidst the snoring of other humans, I found myself drawn to adventure. Gizmo was having a grand time in the water feature, so I left him to it. I set out to find those pedal bikes I had seen the other day. I yearned to sit in them and dream of having longer legs and the mischief I could get up to. Being a mere Gnome is tough, but I'm always ready for a new adventure. Despite the challenges, I persevered. The night was long, the place vast, and the campers numerous. Some even left their smelly shoes outside their door. But I didn't let it get to ...

23/10/24 His Lordship was up early today. The new car needed a longer run and not just around the city. The Mistress says he would be in his element as it was golf day, too. That is such a great excuse for him. So, she gets to drive his old car, which doesn't please her much, but she knows a long drive is needed.  We gathered our mates when they went out yesterday and wondered what we could do. There was a hedge behind our caravan and others behind us, so we hid ourselves and watched the humans go about their day. They are well set up and have been living there for a while. They are a quiet bunch and don't venture far. Gizmo cracked some jokes and had us rolling around, laughing our socks off. A lady came outside looking for something and then returned to her caravan. I wonder what she was looking for! There was not enough action around them, so we scarpered down the hedge fence to another caravan, and they didn't appear. We heard snoring, and it was the middle of the day...

21/10/14 The humans around here had been eagerly awaiting this hot weather, and now that it's here, they're in a frenzy. His Lordship is sweating and changing into his shorts, and The Mistress is quietly toiling away, trying to find homes for some stuff in the back of 2 vehicles. Two Lovely ladies arrived to measure up for curtains. The blinds don't do the job, so we will do away with them. The only thing is that they have to make them. Itching to get on the road means we might have to return as the company will fit them. This pleased the Mistress no end. She is well past mucking around, and the experts know what they are doing, she hopes! Last night, some tenting people had a lot of fun. They thought they saw a Gnome walking around, scratching their heads, thinking they had lost the plot. It was dark, and we did not expect anyone to be awake. We sat behind a bush, cracking up with laughter and hilarious jokes. They went walkabout then returned to their tent. The other ...
20/10/24 Time just flies around this place. So much to explore and report. The humans like this gypsy lifestyle, and I am beginning to adjust too. Trixie is undecided, but she is a female. She is happy in her own world.  When the humans finally sleep, we head out and do our Gnome stuff. Some caravans, buses, tents, and cabins have skinny walls. We hear all sorts of noises, and some of them sound like the Mistress as she snores. This new fancy bed has caused her to snore so much more. No wonder they both talk about getting a better sleep these days.  I can only say that the sales lady from Adjusta Mattress knew how to work her magic at the Caravan show. My mate down the road sees all sorts of things that happen around here. It is a busy place now the weather is better for camping. Some people speak a different language, and I cannot understand them. Goodness only knows where they come from. This chap down the road has been for a Hoon around on the peddle bikes,...

18/10/24 Being a Gnome and living with humans is a challenge most days. They are in and out of this caravan like flies sometimes, and we never know whether we can do our Gnome stuff. They went out this afternoon, and we headed to the office area.   I wanted to chat to a gnome chap a few caravans away. They appear to live here, and the Mistress likes their garden. I shan't report on our gnome chat as its only our business. All I can say is it is all on for tonight. Approaching the office was an exciting exercise. The enormous wooden fence had jandals stapled to it. They were all different, too. I wondered if they were left behind by holidaymakers.    I spent a lot of time down there, hiding from people who were constantly coming and going. Hiding behind some wheels was a challenge, and due to some clown getting in it and driving off. I had an excellent view, but being a mere Gnome is always challenging. Another interest on the way back was stopping at the 3 wheeled carts. ...
16/10/24 His Lordship rose before the Mistress as he was going south to do some chores, and of course, it was Wednesday and golf day. He was gone about half an hour when suddenly the door opened, and he showed the Mistress his wallet, which he had left in the new car and needed. He didn't have his usual happy face, so he was angry at himself. Just as well, he didn't blame the Mistress.  The Mistress had other plans. The Grandson was sick, and his parents worked, so she took herself to his place and looked after him. He was a little better today and is not allowed to take his bugs to school. Jeepers, the school would close down if everyone got the bugs. We were left in the caravan for the day, which was an excellent excuse to keep exploring this place. A rather large dog was wandering alone, so we kept well out of his way. There is also another cute little dog next door who is on a lead and can't go far. He just watched us ducking and diving amongst caravans and camper v...

15/10/24 At long last, we are back. Oh, my goodness, where do I start here?   I am far from impressed with the Mistress. She packed Trixie and me in a box, and we would never be seen again. Shifting from our house into a caravan has been no laughing matter for a mere Gnome. I couldn't keep my eye on these humans as I had paper shoved in my eyes and ears, making it very hard to listen to and see what they were saying and doing. She knows I have a fear of being packed in a box. I recall our visit down to Waimate, and she forgot to put me in the car and left me with this lady who was kind most of the time, showing me around the garden and meeting other Gnomes. Then she got this box, promptly packed me in it, and freighted me back home. She is not my friend now! I was tossed around a lot, and I was far from impressed. I thought I would never see the Mistress again. But with this shifting business, we were packed for a longer time. I couldn't even see Trixie, and my heart ached to s...
